Project Netranjali in Navi Mumbai

Netranjali, a flagship project of RPG Foundation, Sight Savers and One Vision conducted a FREE eye checkup camp on 31st March 2016 from morning 10 am till 5 pm at Jama Masjid, Sector 14, Koparkhairne, Navi Mumbai.
Project Netranjali aims to prevent avoidable blindness through early stage intervention and strives to help the needy, especially the elderly and children with the support of Anjuman Khairul Islam Trust, Koparkhairne and Kokni Vyapari Council, Navi Mumbai.
Netranjali screened around 188 patients and shall distribute free spectacles to 56 persons. Furthermore, they provided cataract referrals to 22 patients who were identified with severe eye problems.
The event was inaugurated by “DCP Shri SHAHJI UMAP, IPS” along with “DCP Shri SURESH MENGDE”. Among the other dignitaries, who attended the event were Shri. Satish Gaikwad (Police In-charge, Koparkhairne), Shri Salim Bhai Shaikh (Exec. Chairman of Muslim Ekta Foundation) Shri. Fakir Mohd Patel, Shri. Munawar Patel (Corporator), Shri. Abdula Bhai Sarvaiya, Shri Iqbal Kaware, Shri Yaseer Arafat, Shri Mohd. Siraj Basheer and Shri Raju Shinde (Ex. Corporator). Shri Faizan, Shri. Taufeeque, Shri. Aman Manyar of An-Noor Welfare Trust were also present.
Shri Afaque Ahmed Khan, Gen. Secretary of Anjuman Khairul Islam Trust, while speaking on the occasion said that we have to reach out to the less privileged sections of the society and ameliorate their sufferings. Health services have to be made available at an affordable cost to all sections of the society. Among other members of the trust, Shri Abbas Mulla, Dr. Shamszzuha and Shri. Baitullah Chowdhry were present.
Commenting on this initiative, Dr. Imtiyaz Kondkari, President of Kokni Vyapari Council said, “The main objective is to make people aware of eye diseases. Project Netranjali provided free services of cataract surgery and also distributed free spectacles to the underprivileged. We are happy to join with the project for the campaign to raise much needed awareness on eye care. Shri. Gufran Chorghay and Shri. Suhail Sayyed were also actively present at the event.
It has been a commendable work on the part of project Netranjali, the partner hospitals and NGOs, for the free eye check-up camp to make it successful, where around 200 people received proper information on eye health care which would go a long way in diminishing preventable blindness.
